Driver Checker 2.7.4

Review Summary: Updating your drivers can be a time consuming and frustrating task, especially when you have to find the make and model of every device installed in your computer. Driver Checker makes it easy to keep your system fully updated by quickly scanning your computer and identifying all of your hardware. Driver Checker can then download the most up to date drivers available to ensure your devices continue to work properly. It can even repair the most common driver problems automatically!

pros
Works on 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Access to a driver database containing over 1.5 million driver update files.
Backs up your current drivers so you can instantly restore your computer to a previous state in case you find a new driver doesn't work with your system.
Removes your old and out of date drivers to ensure your computer registry remains tidy.
Repairs the most common driver problems.
cons
No support for older version of Windows such as 98/98SE, ME, or 2000.

The Good:
The free scan quickly identifies all of your hardware and advises you of any out of date or broken drivers. You can then update all of your drivers as a batch, or simply select a single driver to update. Driver Checker is also able to repair the majority of common driver problems which is really handy.
Able to make a complete backup of your device drivers which can be stored on your hard drive, or a removable USB flash drive. This makes it easy to restore your system if you ever encounter any problems.
Identifies the manufacturer of your computer and recommends manufacturer specific drivers.
Able to uninstall drivers just as easily as installing them
The user interface feels bright, friendly and is easy to use even if you aren't the most technical person.
The Bad:
There are other driver updaters that have larger databases.
Although the website contains all the information you need, some of the paragraphs are a little hard to read. It feels like the website was written by someone who doesn't speak English as a first language.
Only offers support for the latest versions of Windows (XP and Vista). No support for computers using older versions such as 98 or ME.
Verdict:
Driver Checker is a great piece of software. It quickly scans the computer, identifying all of the installed hardware and listing any outdated drivers. It also recommends manufacturer specific drivers, so you can be sure that the files you download will be completely compatible with your system. The user interface is really friendly and is easy to use. However, the driver database is relatively small compared to the databases used by some other driver updaters, even though it does currently hold over 1.5 million driver files. If it wasn't for this small complaint, Driver Checker would easily receive a 5 star rating.
